Why not just ask ChatGPT to correct me? ▼
You can. A one-off chatbot correction is easy to lose. Elephant keeps each attempt in a searchable study history, uses your mistakes to shape later review, and draws examples from its shared corpus. The correction is the start, not the end.
Can I trust the corrections? How good is the AI at Korean? ▼
Corrections are AI-generated, and AI systems are not infallible. The grader is built to accept valid alternatives rather than force one 'right' answer. Search results come from analyzed corpus sentences that have not been excluded or content-flagged. If you would rather have a person check your work, share an attempt with a friend or teacher and keep their notes in Elephant.
What's free, and what does Premium cost? ▼

What level do I need to use Elephant? ▼
If you can read Hangul, you can start. Practice prompts are built from vocabulary you have already studied, so beginners get short, simple sentences and the difficulty grows with you instead of following a fixed curriculum.
Is there a mobile app? ▼
No, but Elephant is a progressive web app (PWA), so it works on any device with a browser. Install it on your home screen for an app-like experience on iOS and Android.
What courses does Elephant officially support? ▼
None officially, for now. You can create your own courses, and the built-in course introduces beginner vocabulary and grammar. I would rather not reproduce someone else's textbook without permission.
What other features are planned for Elephant? ▼
Plans change, so the blog is the best place to follow new releases and previews.
Why is it named Elephant? ▼
Short answer: I liked the idea of a cute elephant mascot. For the longer answer, read the history of Elephant.
Will Elephant make learning Korean easy? ▼
No. Learning a language will always be work, until Matrix-style brain uploads are invented.
Can I self-host Elephant? ▼
Not right now. Elephant benefits from a shared corpus, so a private instance would lose much of what makes it useful. If you need a private deployment and have a commercial budget, get in touch.

Elephant is a solo project. I built it because I wanted feedback on my own Korean sentences, not just another flashcard app. I study with it too.
