v0.16.0 Release

Changelog of the 0.16.0 release

Today I updated Elephant to 0.16.0.

If you’ve been paying attention during your visits, you might have noticed the version number in the footer or in the app’s side menu. Until today, it said 0.14.3, so what happened to 0.15?

I created the Git tag and release, and the app was running in a container tagged 0.15.0. I simply forgot to update the project version. It happens.

As for the actual news in 0.16: With this update, the following new features are available in preview to Supporters:

Word Scramble: A sentence is split into pieces, and you get to put it back together.

Numbers: Write Sino-Korean and native Korean numbers. It is a more elaborate version of my other project, 숫자.

Listening: This comes in two variants. First, listen to a sentence and pick its meaning, similar to flashcards. Second, single-sentence dictation: listen to a sentence and write it down.

Guided Writing: Given a word, write a sentence using it.

Grammar Practice: Fill in the blanks for various grammar concepts.

While I’ve put some effort into them, they are still raw. Once they feel ready, they will all be available to Premium subscribers. Later, Numbers and Listening will be added to the free tier. The remaining tasks need more evaluation before I can guarantee that they will be free.

I plan to introduce them in follow-up posts and demo videos.
